If your GA driver's license, permit, or ID has been lost or stolen, you need to replace it with the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) right away.
May 10, 2017 All original and pending driver license (DL) or identification (ID) cards will expire on the expiration date of their Identity document issued by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Your Identity document must have an expiration date 30 or more days from your application date. This letter reflects the date the licence was first issued. Application for / Renewal of South African drivers licence: From 01 March 1998, all licence holders were obliged to convert their Identity Document licences to the Credit Card Format (CCF) licence. At the next driver license or identification card issuance there is no associated record on file so this current issuance becomes the new original issue date. To correct this date the department will need proof of an earlier license or identification card issuance. Original Issue Date - Uber/Lyft drivers and former residents who need their original driver's license issue date must complete and mail an IR-002 application. See the mail option below. See the mail option below.
It's illegal to drive without a permit or license, and a lost or stolen photo ID can end up in the wrong hands and compromise your identity.
Report Your Lost or Stolen GA Driver's License, Permit, or ID
If your Georgia driver's license, permit, or ID has been lost or stolen, it's important to report it to your local police department right away, especially if you know that it has been stolen.

You may apply for a new driver's license or ID card number IF you present a police report that clearly states that your license or ID card was stolen.
Check out our page on identity theft for more information on protecting yourself.
